This foolish, unforced error now promises to make Cameron’s life more difficult than it needs be between now and March next year.   What should worry Cameron most is how cross the peers, including the Tories, are about the whole situation. In the last reshuffle, David Cameron made Tina Stowell the leader of the House of Lords. But, astonishingly, he didn’t make her a full member of the Cabinet, giving her only the right to attend. Awkward rows about who employs ‘cheap foreign labour’ aside, the immigration issue is going to blow up again in the next couple of weeks when the Immigration Bill reaches report stage in the House of Lords.
