Anti-Semitism always comes dressed as virtue. The peasant mobs that hunted Jewish “Christ-killers” really believed they were defending God’s honour. The Nazis who ghettoised and then vaporised Jews truly thought they were protecting Europe from a biological toxin. And so it is today: the Islamo-left that dreams of scrubbing the Jewish state from the face of the Earth thinks it is saving mankind from a deadly moral pollutant: Zionism.
It is rank bigotry to seek to deprive the Jews and the Jews alone of their sovereign rights
The Green Party members who voted for the “Zionism is Racism” motion in Brighton yesterday will doubtless have been puffed up with sanctimony. They likely think of themselves as valiant defenders of Palestinians from the Zio-meance, and of the wider world from Zionism’s octopus-like reach into our political and media institutions. Someone needs to tell them they are far from the first people in history to mistake Jew-baiting for moral courage.
We have awoken to a stark new reality today: there is now a mainstream party in the UK that is constitutionally devoted to the destruction of the Jewish homeland. It’s there in black and white. The Greens support “the establishment of a single democratic Palestinian state in all of historic Palestine”. So no more Israel. No more Jewish nation. You heard them, Jews – not one square inch of earth will belong to you. You are condemned to wander the planet forever.
The motion has the usual gibberish about how in this fantasy land of “historic Palestine” there will be “equal rights for all”. This is a wicked lie. To Israel’s south is a vicious army of anti-Semites that raped and murdered more than a thousand Jews just three years ago. To its east is the Palestinian Authority that gives huge payouts to the families of terrorists who slaughter Jews. To its north is a Party of God – Hezbollah – whose leaders have called Jews “apes and pigs” and demanded they be sent “back to Germany, or wherever they came from”.
If the Greens’ wet dream of Israel’s erasure were to come true, the devastation would be of Nazi proportions. The Jews of the Holy Land would be left at the mercy of the Islamofascists who surround them. It would be a lucky Jew that suffered mere expulsion. The Greens can doll up their Israelophobia in as much PC finery as they like – the rest of us know that dismantling the Jewish state would unleash a carnival of racist violence that would make 7 October look like a tea party.
All that Zionism means is the right of Jews to self-determination, to live and build and flourish in their ancestral home. It is rank bigotry to seek to deprive the Jews and the Jews alone of their sovereign rights. That’s the great, terrible irony of the “Zionism is Racism” cry – it’s not Zionism that’s racist, it’s anti-Zionism. The singling out of Jewish nationhood as such a pox on humanity that it must be done away with is the very definition of racial bigotry.
It’s here in Britain that the Greens’ anti-Zionist hysteria will have its most lethal impact. The Jews of Israel likely couldn’t give a toss what soy boys and Islamo-fruitcakes in the UK are yapping about. They’re not about to surrender their ancient kingdom to the Jew-haters of Hamas just because some genderfluid saps in keffiyehs had a tantrum in Brighton. No, it’s British Jews who will suffer.
What the Greens have done is unforgivable. In tarring Zionists as “racist”, they’ve hung a target sign around the necks of our Jewish compatriots, most of whom identify as Zionist. They’ve made moral lepers of Jews. They have made them fair game for invective at the very least, and possibly worse. Racism is increasingly treated as the original sin of modernity; in such circumstances, to brand most British Jews as racist is reckless, hateful and potentially deadly.
Indeed, the most shocking event in Brighton yesterday was the voting down of an amendment that would have offered protection to Jewish Greens who attend Zionist synagogues. There must not be any “indirect discrimination” against these “practising Jews”, the amendment said. The party rejected it. Got that? A political party has implicitly green-lighted the harassment of Jews on the basis of the synagogue they attend. We are in 1930s territory.
Imagine accusing others of genocide even as you agitate for the erasure of a nation state. Imagine calling others racist even as you single out Jewish sovereignty for destruction. Such are the lies and deceptions of the Islamo-left. It’s time to get real. British Jews are under threat. They’re being spat on, insulted, demonised and even murdered, all while being called “Zio baby-killers”. The Greens have just thrown petrol on this fire of fascistic hate. Non-Jews need to step up. We cannot leave it to Jews alone to fight the deadly unreason of the new anti-Semitism.
