If you want to stay sweet with the cultural establishment, never say anything nice about Jews. That’s the sick lesson of the Boy George storm. The Culture Club legend has released a song in which he croons “I stand with the Jews” and defends the right of the Jewish state to push back against the armies of anti-Semites that dream of its destruction. And for that, for refusing to hate Jews, he’s been savaged and ostracised.

It’s been an extraordinary spectacle. The song’s called “We Will Dance Again”. It upbraids the keffyeh-smothered cultural windbags who wang on about Israel’s “genocide” but never mention Hamas’s actually genocidal assault on the Jews of Southern Israel on 7 October.
“Young girls raped against trees / Murdered brutally / For the crime of dancing”, Boy George sings about the Nova music festival, in a doubtless fruitless effort to prick the consciences of the Gazaholics of the music industry.
He lampoons the Palestine flag-shaggers who throng plummy music festivals, “mouthing like sheep” some anti-Israel “propaganda” they saw on TikTok. Most daringly of all, he refuses to bow to that falsest of false religions: the digital delirium that says Israel is committing genocide. “You say genocide, I say war”, he sings. Finally there’s his refrain of solidarity with Jews, which grabs you precisely because it feels so despairingly rare: “If you’re ever confused, I stand with the Jews”, he sings.
The response has been mental. He was monstered online, of course, as is everyone who demurs from the fashionable frothing hatred for the Jewish nation. The Israelophobic mob branded him “depraved”, “repellent” and a “nasty little freak”. In the cavernous moral vacuum inhabited by the keffiyeh people, you’re “good” if you spend your every waking hour fantasising about the annihilation of the Jewish homeland, and you’re “bad” if you say the rape and murder of Jews is evil.
Next, his working relationships started to fall apart. “Due to my decision to stand up for my Jewish friends, I am losing a few people from my life”, he wrote on social media. What a sentence. What a damning indictment of the frenzy and bigotry that have colonised our cultural world since 7 October.
He parted ways with the manager of his record label, calling him “gutless” for refusing to release “We Will Dance Again”. Then he was withdrawn from Jesus Christ Superstar at the Palladium in London, in which he was set to play the part of Herod. His manager, Paul Kelmsley, decided it was in everyone’s “best interests” for his client to pull out, thus allowing “the production [itself] to remain the focus”. The scary thing is that Kelmsley is probably right: had Boy George’s Herod gone ahead, the Gaza freaks would have had a fit. There’d have been nightly disruptions, with audience plants barking “Genocide denier!” whenever George hit the stage.
Now it’s reported that Bandcamp, the online music store, has removed “We Will Dance Again”. It’s unclear whether it’s because of the song’s lyrical content or because, by Boy George’s own admission, it was made with the assistance of AI – Bandcamp has a policy of not permitting tunes “generated wholly or in substantial part by AI”. But Boy George is nonetheless ticked off. “Bunch of c**ts”, he said. He’s clearly raging, which is not surprising.
Anyone who doubts that Israel-hate has become the moral glue of the cultural elites should think about what’s happened to Boy George. One of our best-known pop stars treated like a moral leper for saying he likes Jews and supports Israel – it’s madness. The big lie of Israel’s “genocide” has become the holy dogma of the self-righteous left. Doubt it, query it, and you will be driven into the social wilderness. Either you buy that the Jewish State is a uniquely monstrous entity, or you’re finished in this town.

The double standards are sickening. When the balaclava bores of the rap trio Kneecap allegedly yelped “Up Hamas”, the activist class rushed to their defence. “It’s free speech, innit”, cried these people who’ve spent the past decade cancelling feminists for saying women don’t have penises. Yet when Boy George says Hamas is evil, and its war crimes were disgusting, he’s readied for the madhouse. A cultural sphere where it’s safer to allegedly say “Up Hamas” than it is to praise the Jewish nation is a sick one indeed.
The Boy George scandal confirms the suffocating conformism of the genocide lie. All must bow before that bigoted untruth if they wish to keep their place among the virtuous. What does this say to Britain’s Jews, most of whom identify as Zionists and support the Jewish state? That they aren’t welcome. That they had better shut their mouths. Right now it might be Boy George who’s getting it in the neck, but make no mistake – it is Jews and their allies who are being violently shunted from polite society.
