When President Trump refers to Nancy Pelosi as “Nervous Nancy,” you might assume he’s talking about her policies or leadership style. But maybe she’s just worried about her husband’s driving.
Paul Pelosi was driving in Napa County Friday when he hit a parked car and briefly stopped before leaving the scene of the crash. The damage has been described as “major.” Deputies later found Pelosi’s convertible nearby with damage consistent with the hit.
According to a statement released by the Napa County Sheriff’s Office, Pelosi told deputies he was aware he had hit something but “he did not know what he had hit, so he kept driving.” While reports cited a lack of alcohol in his system, he still faces possible misdemeanor charges of a hit-and-run. He also faces a reevaluation of his driving capabilities as an 86-year-old.
“Mr. Paul Pelosi has personally apologized to the owner of the vehicle and assured them that he would take responsibility for the damage to their vehicle,” a Pelosi family spokesman said Saturday. “Speaker Pelosi will not be commenting further on this private matter.”
The last time Paul was in the news was when he was attacked by a man with a hammer in a home invasion in San Francisco. The same year, he pleaded guilty to DUI charges from a crash in Napa. Yet, his history of car crashes goes way back: when he was 16, he flipped his sports car and killed his older brother in San Mateo, California.
Cockburn thinks it might be a smart idea to get Paul off the road for good. Maybe he should let dear old Nancy enjoy her retirement in peace… “Passenger Princess Paul” has a nice ring to it.
