Kyrsten Sinema was too fun for Congress

More like Kyrsten Sinner? In September, a North Carolina woman, Heather Ammel, filed a suit in county court alleging that former Arizona senator and current crypto lobbyist Kyrsten Sinema had an affair with her husband Matthew while he served on her Senate security detail. That suit has since moved to federal court, so now the whole world knows what Cockburn had long suspected: Kyrsten Sinema was too fun for Congress.

For years, Cockburn heard rumors that Sinema dallied about with her security detail during the end of her Senate term. But the Ammel lawsuit codifies it. “She had concerns [Sinema] was having sexual relations with other security members,” the complaint says.

But that’s not the half of it. Sinema and Matthew Ammel spent months exchanging Signal messages that “exceeded the bounds of a normal working relationship and were of romantic and lascivious natures.” For instance, Ammel messaged Sinema from a Washington Nationals baseball game, where he joked he would start a “fuck the troops chant.” Sinema wrote back that she would “fuck the hot ones.” According to the filing “Defendant and Mr. Ammel messaged about having sex missionary position with the lights on, and Defendant stated “boring!”

Sinema also offered to give Ammel, a combat veteran with a PTSD diagnosis, MDMA and guide him through a “psychedelic experience.” Ammel served as Sinema’s personal bodyguard at U2, Green Day and Taylor Swift concerts. Heather Ammel came along to the U2 gig at the Las Vegas sphere to “establish boundaries” and afterwards they partied in the private suite of Cindy McCain, John McCain’s widow and the head of the World Food Program. “Defendant offered Plaintiff a glass of Dom Perignon and said to Plaintiff ‘Did you ever think you’d be drinking Dom Perignon in Cindy McCain’s suite?’”

This dilly-dallying went on until last September, until the Ammels finally split. Heather Ammel is asking Sinema for damages of $25,000. Sinema could cash in some bitcoin and have it done tomorrow. To Cockburn, it sounds like a small price to pay.
