Watch: Lowe aide silences Restore’s by-election candidate

Throughout the Makerfield by-election campaign, Rupert Lowe has taken to social media to complain that his party is being ignored by the wicked establishment press. Lowe was furious when the BBC failed to include Restore in its hustings programme, and he has frequently had a pop at the papers for allegedly refusing to give his operation a platform.

Of course, swathes of publications including this one have approached Lowe’s team asking for an interview with his by-election candidate, Rebecca Shepherd. Shockingly, such requests have been repeatedly denied.

This week, the Telegraph tried its hand at requesting an interview in person, in the constituency. Given Lowe’s concern about the lack of fair or prominent coverage, surely this was a golden opportunity for his candidate to show the world what she has to offer. Alas, it would seem not. Shepherd was blocked by Lowe’s aide, Alistair Harrison, from answering even a single Telegraph question. Interestingly, footage of the moment suggests that it is perhaps Harrison, rather than Lowe, who is really running the show up north.

Mr S cannot help but wonder why, if Lowe is so desperate for the ‘establishment media’ to give him a fair hearing, he will not even let his by-election candidate state the party’s case. Why ever could that be…
