Polanski grovels for Met criticism

Oh dear. Just when you thought the Greens could sink no lower on crime and justice, along came Zack Polanski yesterday with his take on the Golders Green stabbing. The ever-online left-wing leader thought it appropriate to share a post on X, criticising cops for kicking the knife-wielding Somalian attacker in the process of apprehending him, as he continued clutching a bloodied blade.

Polanski reposted a tweet alleging that that officers were ‘repeatedly and violently kicking a mentally ill man in the head’ when he was already incapacitated by a stun gun. It was a take so tone-deaf that Sir Mark Rowley, the Met Commissioner, felt compelled to intervene. In an unprecedented move, he wrote directly to the mammary-fixated hypnotist to remind him that when a member of the public is stabbed, people rather ‘expect the police to act to protect them’. ‘That is exactly what our officers did yesterday,’ Sir Mark wrote. He added: ‘Your decision to criticise these officers, using your public profile and reach, will have a chilling effect.’ Quite.

Polanski has often refused to back down when under fire, previously doubling down on pledges to abandon Trident and legalise heroin. But taking aim at officers while they were trying to prevent a stabbing from turning into something worse appears finally to have tested even the patience of parts of the champagne-socialist set. Now the Green leader has been forced to grovel, saying:

Everyone in leadership has a responsibility for lowering the temperature at a time of such tension. Police responses to emergency situations such as these do need later reflection in the right forums, but I accept that social media is not the appropriate channel for doing so.

Talk about a giant boob. Polanski even offered Sir Mark the chance to meet him for a further discussion on the matter. Haven’t the police suffered enough?
