What disputes about trans athletes say about Democratic politics

In the minds of many progressive Democrats, Representative Seth Moulton, a Massachusetts Dem, just committed an unpardonable sin. He told the New York Times that his two girls should not have to compete in sports against men who have become women: Democrats spend way too much time trying not to offend anyone rather than being brutally honest about the challenges many Americans face. I have two little girls, I don’t want them getting run over on a playing field by a male or formerly male athlete, but as a Democrat I’m supposed to be afraid to say that. Moulton’s statement is really about two issues, not one. It is important to distinguish them. The first, obviously, is about women and athletics.

Title IX and the Biden administration’s trans frenzy

What possesses a great nation’s government to suddenly make transsexuality the center of its civil rights, education and juvenile health agenda? A recent White House proposal to adjust Title IX would make across-the-board school and college sports bans a civil rights violation. Sidestepping any conclusive ruling, the Supreme Court the same day allowed a twelve-year-old West Virginia transgender girl to continue competing on her middle school track and cross-country teams while legal battles work their way through lower courts. About two-thirds of Americans oppose transgendered athletics. Critics argue that they destroy women’s sports and mock Title IX’s original intent.

Opposing child gender transitions is ‘intolerant,’ says college president

The president of the University of North Texas, Neal Smatresk, said in a campus-wide email Tuesday that students who oppose medical transitions for children suffering from gender dysphoria hold "intolerant views". Smatresk's email was sent to the campus community in response to an event hosted by the Young Conservatives of Texas with Texas House candidate Jeff Younger, who has proposed banning surgical and medical interventions for children who claim to be transgender. "I know the last several days may have felt particularly difficult for the transgender members of our community, due to the intolerant views of a handful of campus members," Smatresk wrote.

Expelliarmus, J.K. Rowling!

Professor Sprout has called out J.K. Rowling’s violently problematic comments regarding trans people in a recent article in the Times of London. ‘If you seriously want to become a woman you should be allowed to. You can’t be fascist about it,’ said the Hogwarts Herbology teacher, as she expertly re-potted a Bubotuber without wasting so much as one drop of its valuable pus. I could not agree more with the professor’s words. Since I transitioned, ‘Biology’ has become as problematic a subject as the Dark Arts. I am beginning to suspect Rowling had intended for us to see Voldemort as the hero in her books all along, seeing as she has far more in common with him than any Gryffindor.
