How Donald Trump will be impeached

From the election in November to the presidential inauguration in January, media commentators took turns to pronounce the Trump “Resistance” dead. I know I did. The line was too tempting. As Trump stormed back into the White House, his power looked irresistible. His enemies seemed so broken and defeated. We all spoke too soon. “NeverTrumpism” is a reaction to Trumpism, as natural as magnetic repulsion and the urge to defy and destroy his presidency hasn’t vanished. In fact, look closely and you can see a “Resistance 2.0” gathering momentum in response to the second Trump administration.

Team Biden rejects ‘cheap fake’ videos

Who can you put next to President Joe Biden that will make him look good? We know it’s not the G7, as Italian prime minister Giorgia Meloni had to wrangle the US commander-in-chief when he threatened to drift away from the group of world leaders during a parachuting demonstration. And Saturday confirmed that former president Barack Obama isn’t the answer either, after grabbing his former VP by the wrist and guiding him by his shoulders off the stage at a Los Angeles event as Biden appeared to freeze for about five seconds. Biden’s handlers have already equipped him with special shoes and a gaggle of aides now surround him during boarding of Marine One to disguise his shuffling gait.

Mission accomplished: sunset of the Krassensteins

As 2020 nears its conclusion, many things are coming to an end: Donald Trump’s presidency, America’s superpower status, Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s once-remarkable record of being alive. Now, add another one to the list: the Krassenstein family is quitting Twitter. The Krassenstein family were humans who could only exist in the age of Donald Trump. That is, if they were really human at all; Cockburn is skeptical. Their total obsession with Donald Trump suggested that, like an ant consumed by the cordyceps fungus, their human self may have been hollowed out and wholly replaced by an id of pure anti-Trump derangement.Anyone foolish enough to regularly read Donald Trump’s tweets has seen the Krassensteins.

The Disneyfication of the moral universe

‘I’m sitting here struggling for words and my friend nailed it: “She was our Princess Leia.”’ With those words, Dr Esther Choo, Yale Medical School graduate, holder of an Ivy League English diploma and possessor of 168,000 Twitter followers, memorialized the life of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. A century ago, a citizen of Justice Ginsburg’s stature might have inspired references to the Bible, classical history or the great figures of America’s founding. But in the year 2020, a lifetime of achievement brings no greater honor than to be compared with a Disney-owned property whose action figure you can buy for $10.99.
