What will Elton John learn from Tammy Faye’s flop on Broadway?

Amid much hype and excitement last year, Sir Elton John, that most consistently busy of rock ’n’ roll stars, announced that he was going to retire from touring so that he could spend more time with his young children. Yet John has been nothing if not productive — and his definition of “retirement” has been more elastic than most seventy-seven-year-olds. In the last year alone, since he played his final full concert in Stockholm on July 8, 2023, he has participated in a major documentary, Elton John: Never Too Late, for which he has written a new song, performed at a high-profile international business event at St. Paul’s Cathedral in London last month and now has seen his latest musical, Tammy Faye, transfer to Broadway.

Glamorous is prestige TV’s first post-woke show

One of the few certainties about the second season of And Just Like That... is that the Sex and the City reboot is as heavy-handedly woke as the first. Gender-nonbinary podcaster Che Diaz is back, in all of their jargony groansome-ness. Quota-filling black folk are magically incanted with Afropunk-inspired names like Nya and Toussaint. Historically black colleges are blithely name-checked; the requisite trans high-schooler is given equitable airtime; and we even encounter an upcycled wedding dress that carries Carrie Bradshaw to the Met Ball with eco-friendly aplomb.

Slayed queens: the girlboss, dethroned

The girlboss is dead. Intersectionality killed her. Female CEOs who sacrificed their twenties to build their women-focused businesses are being run out of the industry in droves over accusations that they haven't been inclusive enough to staff and customers. The progressives who believe 'my feminism will be intersectional or it will be bullshit' have decided that the clothing brands and publishing companies built by and created for women no longer meet the standards of political correctnesss. Put in terms a normal human can understand, these companies are simply too white. It is a valuable lesson for those that try and cater to the demands of the far-left: no matter how feminist you are, it will never be enough and eventually the mob will come for you.
