Usually the phrase ‘car crash interview’ is only a metaphor, referring to a politician after a terrible exchange. But now a more literal example of the term has occurred in Clacton, where Nigel Farage is busy stumping around on the campaign trail.

Farage and his supporters watched the whole thing unfold from the roadside. One member of his entourage can be heard offering the perfect deadpan verdict: ‘She won’t be doing that again in a hurry.’
It’s not the first time Clacton has served up unlikely political theatre for Farage. He was, after all, milkshaked outside a pub in the same town during his 2024 campaign launch. But whereas that episode ended in a suspended sentence for his attacker, this one will likely involve an embarrassing phone call to the insurer.
