Watch: Emma Thompson backs Labour’s ‘summer of sex’

While many Labour MPs are drowning their sorrows over the state of the party and its never-ending internal drama, one backbencher is thriving away from the leadership wrangling. Samantha Niblett, who opposes the new trans guidance protecting single sex spaces, is blocking out the noise and pressing ahead with her ‘summer of sex’ campaign.

The endeavour, in partnership with sex-tech entrepreneur Cindy Gallop, includes hosting a dildo exhibition in the House of Commons and discussing the best ways to orgasm. Now, the campaign has received a starry endorsement: Emma Thompson has signed up.

In a video with the MP for South Derbyshire, Thompson says:

I’m just here to say that I’m backing Samantha and Cindy’s campaign for lifelong sex education, which is not party political but it is critical.

Trumpeting the endorsement, Niblett said: ‘It’s not every day you get to spend the day with a living legend. And she is just as lovely as you’d expect her to be. It’s fantastic that the campaign for lifelong sex education has the support of the wonderful Emma Thompson.’

A Labour ‘summer of sex’ or a Labour summer of leadership scrapping? Mr S cannot decide which sounds more frightening.
