Vodafone executives who provide SIM cards to illegal migrants will be thrown in prison under a Reform government, Zia Yusuf warned today.
The party’s home affairs spokesman has demanded that the telecoms giant immediately stop supplying SIMs to Care4Calais, one of the worst-offending NGOs when it comes to aiding Channel crossers. Vodafone has issued a gobsmacking 2,221 cards to the so-called ‘human rights’ organisation, which has sparked fury for seemingly helping to facilitate illegal entry into Britain.
In a letter to the company’s board of directors, Yusuf said: ‘Vodafone’s customers will no doubt be astounded to hear that a British company of generally good repute is helping to facilitate the invasion of Britain by unvetted, military-age men. They will be shocked to hear that their phone or broadband provider is actively endangering British women and girls.’
Yusuf vowed to ‘hold each every officer and director’ of the telecoms provider ‘personally and criminally liable’ for distributing SIM cards. He warned that ‘if found guilty you would be liable to go to prison’.
Care4Calais’ annual report boasts of handing out 162,000 goodies to a staggering 30,000 illegal migrants in the UK and France. These include 2,221 Vodafone SIM cards, 3,765 hoodies, 3,532 pairs of joggers and 1,174 T-shirts. The NGO also distributed 1,173 ‘Ramadan food packs’.
Alongside its warning to Vodafone, Reform has vowed to pass the ‘Polanski Law’, which would make aiding and abetting illegal entry into the UK a criminal offence, regardless of intent.
Yusuf said: ‘Care4Calais is not a charity. It is a facilitator of illegal migration, actively aiding the mass arrival of unvetted, fighting-age males into Britain at a cost of billions to the taxpayer. Successive Tory and Labour governments have colluded by looking the other way.
‘Reform UK will pass the ‘Polanski Law’ to criminalise any act that assists or encourages illegal entry, punishable by two years’ imprisonment. We will treat those who enable this invasion as the accomplices they are and shut them down immediately.’
Reform’s message to Vodafone executives could hardly be clearer: stop handing out SIM cards – or get used to receiving calls from prison.
