What is it about tragedy that brings out the worst in some people? After the horrifying attack on Berlin Pride, most politicians have rushed to offer their sympathies to the city and condemn the identified perpetrator: 21-year-old Abdul Ballout, an alleged Islamist extremist. But for some, it seems, this sad occasion is just another chance to parade their idiocy in public. Sadly, among them are two of Labour’s MPs: Kate Osborne and Chris Bryant.
Osborne, the hard-of-thinking Labour MP for Jarrow and Gateshead East has been quick to point the finger of blame at those who are REALLY responsible – including, er, GB News. She blamed the UK-based news organisation as being partially responsible for a rise in hate crimes, writing on Facebook that it is guilty of ‘spouting nonsense and broadcasting content and language that attacks and vilifies the LGBTQ+ community’. Perhaps Ballout was a regular watcher of the People’s Channel…
Chris Bryant MP meanwhile is the newly-promoted Northern Ireland Secretary who refuses to say who was responsible for committing the crime. ‘That’s surely the job of the German police and courts’ he sniffed on X, having spent years going after using the word ‘extremist’ at the drop of a hat. Having been pressed on which ‘ideology’ was responsible for the horror, Bryant simply replied ‘hatred’. Truly, the hate that dare not speak its name.
Any more for any more? Mr S can’t help but notice how Zack Polanski is keeping relatively quiet, other than a simple ‘Sending all my love and solidarity to Berlin’ post. Still, that’s preferable to the strange case of foot-in-mouth syndrome that seems to affect some of his fellow travellers on the left eh?
