Burnham says yes, yes, yes to Labour’s Summer of Sex

One of the biggest criticisms levelled at Andy Burnham is that he simply cannot say no. Every campaign, every demand and every heartstring-tugging request is met with a big fat yes. Today proved no different. At an otherwise boring PMQs, Burnham said yes, yes, yes to the Summer of Sex.

The Prime Minister was asked by Labour’s very own sex MP, Samantha Niblett, whether he would back her campaign to get Britain talking about bonking, dildos and vibrators. She said:

My campaign for lifelong sex education has received tremendous support from many… I have discovered that shame, guilt and embarrassment around talking about sex and body parts like penis and vagina is even leading to late diagnosis of health conditions… Will the Prime Minister agree to meet with me to talk about my campaign?

Burnham, clearly stimulated by the question, said he would ‘absolutely’ meet Niblett. He praised the Labour backbencher for ‘raising important issues that others won’t talk about’. Delivering the only vaguely amusing line of an otherwise tedious session, he added: ‘It’s very clear to me that her summer was more exciting than mine.’

Mr S can only hope their meeting proves equally satisfying.
