There are too many podcasters and influencers in the White House Briefing Room

It was around 3 p.m. last Tuesday when I’d finally heard enough. Karoline Leavitt, for the love of your movement, stop bringing podcasters and influencers into the White House briefings. It’s not good for anyone, not the administration, not for conservative nor new media, and it’s certainly not good for all the righteous goals that got Trump elected in the first place. Take TikTok’s Link Lauren, aka “MAGA Malfoy,” who had the opportunity so few get to ask Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt a question in person at the White House.

Rescue the Republic didn’t meet expectations

This Sunday, steps away from the Washington Monument, a ragtag group of disgruntled, self-described classical liberals, seed oils disrespecters, public intellectuals and former Democrats assembled for the Rescue the Republic rally.  The event was spearheaded by Dr. Bret Weinstein, a “canceled ” evolutionary biology professor turned podcaster. In the days leading to the event, he imagined it as a civilizational moment — “This will be ‘an event’ in the same way that Woodstock was ‘a music festival.’ I truly believe that.” Sadly for Weinstein, the event fell short of a revolutionary event, with most of the crowd concentrating next to the stage, leaving lots of space in the back.

Trans takeover at Georgetown University

It was a tale of two events Tuesday night at Georgetown University, the oldest “Catholic” university in the country and my alma mater. Michael Knowles was set to speak about whether President Joe Biden is more evil than Putin and Xi in an event organized by the Georgetown University College Republicans (GUCR) and Young America’s Foundation (YAF). After GUCR announced the event, left-wing campus groups denounced Knowles due to his alleged transphobia (read: denying that people can — or should! — change their sex). I spoke to a couple of leaders for GUCR who told me they’d been on the receiving end of a lot of online vitriol and that flyers they put up for the event wouldn’t last for more than ten minutes before being ripped down.
