Trump starts Christmas now

There’s no small irony in the fact that Texas Democratic state legislators, fleeing a congressional redistricting attempt by Texas’s Republican majority, have sought shelter in Illinois. They’re acting like political refugees in what is, in fact, the most gerrymandered state in the country. Look at Illinois District 13, which snakes up from the Missouri border nearly to the gates of Indiana, bisecting the state (and District 15) like Illinois’s small intestine. Chicago is a very populous city, but the state has carved up its Congressional districts like a turducken, giving us as many (D-Chicagos) as humanly possible. The Illinois Democratic machine has had an outsized influence on American politics, much less Illinois politics, for decades.

Step aside Zohran, Eric Adams can make things cheap too!

Democratic mayoral nominee Zohran Mamdani has declared that in his New York City, buses will be free, childcare will be free, rent will be frozen and government-run grocery stores will light up the crime-riddled horizon. Cockburn thinks current Mayor Eric Adams, now running as an Independent, must have read Zohran's free-stuff-for-New-Yorkers list and spotted a hole: WiFi. In a press conference yesterday, Adams was joined by the city's office of Housing Preservation and Development to announce their new $3.25 million plan to provide free WiFi to low-income New Yorkers in 35 government-subsidized buildings. "Liberty Link will deliver free and low cost internet to 2,200 households across the Bronx and Upper Manhattan. . . . Today, we're bringing Section 8 online," the Mayor said.

Kamala kampaign receives Beyoncé’s blessing… but where’s Obama?

It’s official. Kamala Harris has received the obligatory support of Beyoncé. The "kampaign" can finally begin in earnest. On Thursday morning, the vice president released her first campaign ad with an assist from the pop giant. Images of diverse Americans fly by as Beyoncé’s “Freedom” plays and Harris promises a utopian future free of poverty and violence. The campaign is undoubtedly hoping the choice ages better than Hillary Clinton’s overuse of “Fight Song.”  “In this election we each face a question. What kind of country do we want to live in? There are some people who think we should be a country of chaos. Of fear. Of hate,” Harris voices over in the ad. “But us. We choose something different. We choose freedom.

When will Harvard give Claudine Gay the boot?

You are probably almost as sick of hearing about Claudine Gay — as of this writing, still the president of Harvard University — as I am of writing about her. As I pointed out a year ago in this space, Harvard’s appointment of Gay, a black woman, was simply the next chapter in the university’s long-running pursuit of its racial spoils system. Gay’s entire academic career has been a testimony to the power of that enterprise. What a prize Harvard had in Claudine Gay: a black female who was an avid proponent of the whole “Diversity, Equity and Inclusion” racket. Could there be any doubt that she was being groomed for the top slot?

The George Santos report that led half his campaign staff to quit

If you want something done, do it yourself — that includes getting a report on your fake résumé written up before your political adversaries can. It's advice that the George Santos campaign took to heart when he was running for Congress in 2022.   Months before the media began to pounce upon Santos’s seemingly endless stream of lies, he already had them well documented. In 2021, his campaign paid $16,600 to Capital Research Group in Washington, DC, to deliver a secret internal report on Santos’s storied past.

Hunter Biden is running out of time

We've come a long way in the two and a half years since the contents of Hunter Biden's laptop were unleashed on the world. In addition to the splashy, X-rated photos and videos of Hunter surrounded by drugs and prostitutes, the New York Post's reporting honed in on a set of emails that suggested Hunter's foreign business dealings involved his father, President Joe Biden. In one email, an official for the Ukrainian energy company Burisma thanks Hunter for the "opportunity" to meet then-Vice President Biden. In another, Hunter's business partner alludes to setting aside 10 percent of a deal with a Chinese firm for "the Big Guy." These bombshells served as the flashpoint for a series of investigations that are finally nearing their conclusion.

Could the Blinken revelations lead to Biden’s impeachment?

What’s that flapping sound? Could it be the sound of chickens coming home to roost? Or maybe it’s just the grating noise of secretary of state Antony Blinken rolling himself into a ball and, pressing his eyes shut and cupping hands over his ears, repeating, mantra-like, “please make it stop”? I don’t know exactly what the noise is or whence it comes. But Thursday’s revelations from the House Judiciary and Intelligence Committees about Blinken and Obama’s acting CIA director and all-round Democratic Mr. Fixit Michael Morell are certainly brewing up a storm.

Elon Musk is turning Twitter into Spirit Airlines

Last weekend I flew down to Miami to escape New York for a few days. I had to fly Spirit, because I have an undiagnosed condition that makes it impossible for me to buy flights at a sensible time in advance. The experience went as you would expect: I traveled through Spirit’s Potemkin terminal at LaGuardia, paid $90 for the privilege of a carry-on and spent the three-hour trip sandwiched in the back of a dinky airplane staring at a wing with “HOWDY” ominously painted across it. The Spirit Airlines business model — to provide a service for the bulk of your customers that is noticeably worse than what they are accustomed to in the hopes some people pay more to get the experience they're more familiar with — is apparently Elon Musk’s vision for Twitter.

Even Biden knows Kamala is useless

As the song in “Li’l Abner” said, “The Country’s in the Very Best of Hands.”   I wonder if Joe Biden knows the tune?   The treasury says the national debtIs climbing to the skyAnd government expendituresHave never been so highIt makes a fellow get aGleam of pride within his eye,To see how our economy expandsThe country’s in the very best of hands Please note that Joe’s got plenty of help. There are lots of hands building up that debt, opening up our southern border, proselytizing for the girls who think they are boys and vice versa.

The shocking Hunter Biden twists in the Twitter Files

Two of the week’s biggest news stories are unfolding in hermetically sealed chambers. The left half of the country, and the international press, is aghast at the criminal referrals from the January 6 Committee, while the right ignores the panel’s findings as a foregone conclusion, part of a witch hunt against Donald Trump.

Why Murdoch dumped Trump

“He’s done.” That was the general consensus when I asked around about Donald Trump’s future in politics this week. And in the search for signs that Trump is in trouble, Rupert Murdoch’s newspapers are a good place to start. In the days since the disappointing midterm results, the New York Post, has already labeled the former president “Trumpty Dumpty” and praised his Republican rival Ron DeSantis as “DeFuture.” Trump's 2024 bid was relegated to page 26 on Tuesday, teased on the cover as "Florida man makes announcement." Things aren’t much better for the former president over at the Wall Street Journal. It has been crammed with anti-Trump op-eds since last Tuesday. One headline summed things up neatly: “Trump is the Republican Party’s Biggest Loser.

New York Post hacked: ‘We must assassinate AOC for America’

Cockburn has always been fond of a New York Post headline. Snappy, funny, eye-catching: that's why he reads the New York tabloid every morning. But today, even for Cockburn, some were too far. In what appears to be a hacking, a scroll down the Post's Twitter feed at around 9 a.m. revealed the following headlines: “Devine: We must murder Joe and Hunter Biden” “We must assassinate AOC for America” “Frank: I will beat up sorry ass Bergen bitches like Gottheimer and his family” “Zeldin: I will rape and batter Hochul’s sorry ass pussy” “Gov. Abbott: I will order border patrol to start slaughtering illegals” "Rufo: We must destory [sic] and imprison Union teachers" "Zeldin: Eric Adams is NYC’s fried chicken eating monkey” https://twitter.

Is there a second Hunter Biden laptop?

What could be more scandalous than one Hunter Biden laptop? How about... two Hunter Biden laptops? Andrew Rice, a contributing editor at New York magazine, floated the idea that the president's prodigal son may have lost more than one computer during a CNN interview on Monday: People close to him have propagated the idea that perhaps actually there’s a second laptop out there that it might actually trace back to, which goes back to the general point that Hunter Biden was capable of losing more than one laptop that potentially contained devastating information about himself in this time period in his life. To recap: Hunter abandoned his first laptop in a Delaware repair shop back in April 2019.

Hunter Biden may be indicted, reports…CNN?

Trouble may be ahead for America's least favorite fortunate son. Department of Justice (DOJ) officials are reportedly discussing whether to indict Hunter Biden on charges relating to tax and foreign lobbying violations. This comes as an investigation into his finances is reaching a “critical stage.” While this might seem like yet another story the mainstream media would sweep under the rug, Cockburn is pleased to see that even CNN covered it. Clearly something is up here. Back in March, one of Cockburn’s pals, Charles Lipson, covered the media’s purposeful blindness into the Hunter Biden laptop scandal after the New York Times casually verified that the computer was real (a year and a half after the New York Post had verified it and been banned from Twitter for its efforts).

Atlantic journalist: I still don’t care about Hunter’s laptop

Cockburn has accidentally left his laptop at plenty of bars in his day. Yet if you were to open it up and search it — as a PI hired by one of his loopy exes once did — you would not find extensive evidence of drug use or information potentially compromising to national security. Not so in the case of Hunter Biden. Even the New York Times admitted last month that his now-notorious laptop is real and under investigation by federal prosecutors. When the New York Post broke that story back in October 2020, the mainstream media took a pass and Twitter even suspended the Post’s account. Now that the crooked computer has been verified, those same alleged journalists are rushing to play CYA.

James Clapper is still a shameless liar

Last week, the New York Times decided that now might be a good time, amid the cacophony of war abroad and soaring inflation at home, to come clean about the Hunter Biden laptop story. On March 16, the Times published a report on the junior Biden’s messy tax affairs in which, a full twenty-four paragraphs in, they acknowledged the authenticity of the emails and files contained on the now-infamous laptop.

NY Post shames intel officials who flacked for Hunter Biden

Take Cockburn's hand and let him whisk you back to the halcyon days of fall 2020. The presidential campaign was in full swing and the New York Post had just gotten its hands on a scoop: Hunter Biden, the son of Joe Biden, had left his laptop at a repair shop in Delaware. On its hard drive was a treasure trove of damning emails and pictures, including one that appeared to show Hunter passed out in bed with a crack pipe in his mouth. The Post published its story, the Biden campaign yelped, and the establishment duly lost its mind. The Post's Twitter account was suspended. And perhaps most damningly, fifty-one intelligence "experts" signed a letter warning that the laptop story could be Russian disinformation.

The Hunter Biden disinformation campaign

Democrats are obsessed with the idea that when they lose elections it must be because of outside forces, usually some sort of Russian. But what we know now is that if anyone has been manipulating our once precious democracy, it has been the Democrats. The latest findings by the Durham investigation make clear that the 2016 Clinton campaign paid for and implemented a massive disinformation strategy to falsely link Donald Trump to Russia, and then worked the intelligence services of the United States and the mainstream media to drive that narrative deep into the American psyche. When Trump won, Democrats used that same strategy to try and drive him from office.

Let he who is without crack-induced nudes cast the first stone

President Joe Biden often likes to tout his involvement in passing the Violence Against Women Act. So, naturally, the president was on hand to speak about the issue this week at an event marking the bill’s reauthorization. With his trademark eloquence, Biden emphasized how the reauthorization took aim at revenge porn, which he described as “a new civil rights cause of action for those whose intimate images were shared on a public screen.” “I bet everybody knows somebody,” the president explained, “that in an intimate relationship, what happened was the guy takes a revealing picture of his naked friend, or whatever, in a compromising position and then blackmails.” True enough, Mr. Biden.

Cockburn’s fairytale of New York

Almost every right-of-center writer claims to be leaving New York. So Cockburn headed up to see what's left of the Big Apple — and take in a couple of festive ragers while he had the chance. The book party for Miranda Devine’s Laptop From Hell unfolded at the Beach Café, recently dubbed "the Upper East Side’s Republican Cheers" by New York magazine. After checking his coat and having his vaccine card closely inspected, Cockburn rubbed shoulders with Devine, several of her past and present New York Post comrades and dozens of NYC GOP staples. Cockburn shared a cocktail with Republican fixer Roger Stone, who teased his strategy ahead of his summit with the January 6 Committee next week and reminisced about the stolen election of 1960.
