Congressman Cory Mills of Florida is currently subject to a restraining order from a former girlfriend (and former Miss United States), after he threatened to release sexually explicit images of her. He also faces accusations of assault against a different woman, has been accused by fellow soldiers of “stolen valor” for which he received a Bronze Star, and is subject to a House Ethics Committee investigation for “improperly solicited and/or received gifts, including in connection with privately sponsored officially-connected travel.” Good grief. Now NOTUS reports that while on a “rescue” mission to Afghanistan in 2021, when he was running for Congress, Mills was spotted with sex workers in the hallway of a hotel in Tbilisi, Georgia.

What should we believe about New Jersey’s drones?

The past few weeks’ frenzy around alleged sightings of mysterious drones flying above my home state of New Jersey reminds me of one of my grandfather Jack McCarthy’s favorite stories. He was a teenager on October 30, 1938 — the day that Orson Welles’s famous War of the Worlds Halloween broadcast claimed that Martians had landed in a rural Garden State hamlet called Grovers Mill, which happened to be one town over from where my grandfather lived.  According to Jack’s frequent retellings of the story during family holidays, he and his friends hadn’t actually heard the broadcast themselves. They were loitering around Princeton when someone they knew drove by in a car and asked if they wanted to hop in and drive to Grovers Mill to see the Martians.

Why is Trump so nervous about impeachment?

President Trump paraded his latest acquisition, Rep. Jeff Van Drew, a defector from the Democratic to the Republican party, at a meeting in the Oval Office this afternoon. Van Drew, who wore a dark blue three-button suit, crimson red tie and white shirt with gold cufflinks, not only dressed in Trump regalia but pretty much sat by mutely — other than to proclaim his 'undying loyalty' — as his new master bragged about poll numbers that he claimed showed him clobbering his Democratic rivals. Kellyanne Conway and Vice President Mike Pence were on hand as witnesses for the induction ceremony.Though he may be simmering about impeachment, Trump continues to make an outward show of bravado. All he needs, if a Washington Post report is accurate, is a 7 percent solution.
