NewsNation to host next GOP debate in Alabama

It looks like the Republican National Committee will partner with just about anyone to put on a presidential debate. In a press release released Thursday morning, NewsNation, an upstart cable news network with less than 65,000 nightly viewers as of last year, announced that they will be hosting the fourth GOP debate in December.  It will take place in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. “All of us at NewsNation are incredibly honored to be hosting a presidential primary debate and to be part of what will be another historic election season,” said Sean Compton, president of Nexstar Networks which owns NewsNation.

No one in politics gets football

Fumble! Everyone is dropping the ball when it comes to mixing sports and politics. President Joe Biden tried to relate to former Democratic senator Martin Heinrich with a ham-fisted football reference, telling him, “I’m glad I was a flanker back. I’m glad I didn’t have you on the other side as a tight end.”  https://twitter.com/greg_price11/status/1689355172957323265 Unfortunately, the term “flanker back” is only known to anyone under the age of eighty as a wide receiver. Plus a flanker would never be squaring off against a tight end, since they’re both offensive positions. Oh, Uncle Joe!  Meanwhile, one of Biden’s potential 2024 opponents, Florida governor Ron DeSantis, clearly should have stuck to baseball.

Good riddance, Jeff Zucker

Longtime CNN president Jeff Zucker resigned today citing an undisclosed consensual relationship with his long-time colleague Allison Gollust. There’s clearly more to the story, as Puck News founder Matthew Belloni tweeted, “Potentially important: I’m told CNN received a litigation hold letter recently from Chris Cuomo lawyers, demanding, among other things, preservation of all communications between Zucker, comms chief Allison Gollust and Andrew Cuomo.” The news left CNN ombudsman Brian Stelter decrying how shocking and stunning Zucker’s exit was, even as several other journalists and media personalities noted that the relationship between the CNN chief and Gollust was an open secret.

What Chris Wallace does next

Chris Wallace stunned the world of news media this weekend by announcing his resignation from Fox News and its staple show, Fox News Sunday. What he did next shocked some further and didn’t surprise others at all: he joined CNN+, a new streaming service coming next year from Jeff Zucker’s dramatic infotainment network. The move is hardly a bombshell given Wallace’s recent run-ins with the MAGA faithful, both on and off the network. It comes on the heels of a contentious election where Wallace lost control in the first presidential debate. Some see Wallace’s departure as an indictment of the direction in which Fox News is heading editorially.

Why shouldn’t conservatives ‘build their own Twitter’?

Taco Bell Patron in the year 2032: "What would you say if I called you a brutish fossil, symbolic of a decayed era gratefully forgotten?" John Spartan: "I don’t know…thanks?" — Demolition Man “Right wing builds its own echo chamber,” warns the headline from a short piece in Axios about conservatives creating their own media outlets and other institutions like publishers and cryptocurrencies and social networks. The headline is a play on a trope of the Big Tech age (provided you believe Axios is capable of such self-awareness).

CNN in crisis

Cockburn is finally allowed to travel internationally again and he is quite chapped that his airport bar bourbons will no longer be paired with a side of CNN. It was, in fact, the only time he would indulge in the network’s antics. But based on the recent headlines about the poorly rated cable news channel, the loss of its airport network should be the least of CNN’s worries. Primetime anchor Chris Cuomo, who was ousted from his show last week over revelations that he was deeply involved in his brother’s public response to sexual harassment allegations, is reportedly planning to sue the network for the rest of the money from his contract. This is bad news for CNN, which is now quietly investigating a sexual misconduct accusation against Chris.

Chris Cuomo is a repeat offender

Chris Cuomo was indefinitely suspended by CNN on Tuesday for inappropriately assisting his brother, former New York governor Andrew Cuomo, in the politician's defense against women who accused him of sexual misconduct. It's unclear what would have to happen for CNN to end the suspension and allow Cuomo to return to his hosting gig. A cynical person might wonder if they're merely hoping for the negative media coverage of the scandal to subside. After all, isn't that what happened to Jeffrey Toobin, who was also indefinitely suspended after exposing himself on a company video call? According to CNN, they are "evaluating" the Cuomo situation.

Andrew Cuomo deserves more than a single criminal complaint

Ex-governor of New York Andrew Cuomo has been named on a criminal complaint for “forcible touching the sexual or intimate parts for the purpose of degrading or abusing another person.” How the mighty fall. This time last year Cuomo was riding high on popularity nationwide as the go-to pandemic politician. There were whispers of him replacing Joe Biden on the ticket for president. All the major news networks fawned over him and helped him win an Emmy award for his “effective use of television during the pandemic.”  Cuomo and his giant ego later remarked that the Emmy board members forgot to mention his “sense of humor, charisma, good looks or charm.

Chris Cuomo is a symptom of CNN’s disease

Chris Cuomo won’t give CNN, or his very concerned social justice warrior colleagues, a break. Cuomo is arguably the face of the network. That’s a serious problem for Jim Acosta’s anti-Fox News jihad, Brian Stelter and Oliver Darcy’s Media Matters rip-off gig, Jake Tapper’s 'last honest man in Washington' act and Wolf Blitzer still trying to pretend he’s just the straight news guy. Cuomo has eclipsed them all. Hence his magical COVID basement Lazarus miracle last year. Hence also the circus act with his now-humiliated brother and all the special favors that come from that kind of family connection.

Andrew Cuomo doesn’t deserve a second chance

In The Dark Knight, the only Batman movie I’ve ever watched and therefore the best one, Harvey Dent says, 'You either die a hero, or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain.' At this point in the Andrew Cuomo saga, most Americans have realized that the disgraced former governor of New York is just that — a villain. Just don’t tell Cuomo or his amen chorus of sycophantic dead-enders. This week, the suburban tabloid Newsday published an article by David H. Pikus headlined, 'Ousting Cuomo disenfranchised NY voters'. Thankfully for Pikus, Cuomo approved of his obsequious ass-kissery. The ex-Emmy award winner retweeted the puff piece and added, 'This was politics. Every step of the way.

Chris Cuomo invites you to the gun show

Mega-jacked CNN host Chris Cuomo showed off his biceps on Twitter after a troll insulted his crown jewels. The hoopla started Monday morning when an account with only 12 followers enraged the younger Cuomo after claiming the CNN host broke his arm by pleasuring himself. 'That how this happened?! Hahahaha. Come on, baby, dont hate - facilitate. You can do better than this petty bs,' Cuomo said in a tweet, accompanied by a picture of his veiny limb. https://twitter.com/ChrisCuomo/status/1409517284465557518?s=20 Conservative Twitter responded with a litany of penis jokes and pearl-clutching. 'It's too early on a Monday for this, Chris,' the Daily Caller tweeted. NewsBusters’s Nicholas Fondacaro responded, 'It's from stroking your own "ego.

The shameless Cuomo brothers

Andrew Cuomo is the most shamelessly transparent governor in America. And why shouldn’t he be? The man has never been subtle about who he is — and up until now, it has always worked for him. For the duration of his career in politics, the scion of former New York governor Mario Cuomo was the media’s darling. But times change faster than Dr Fauci’s views on mask wearing. Now Gov. Cuomo finds himself frequently described in the press as a man with ‘mushrooming scandals’. Going from ‘America’s Boyfriend’, as Marie Claire’s Michelle Collins dubbed him, to ‘America’s Delusional and Unstable Ex’ can’t be an easy transition. This has become abundantly clear from Cuomo’s unhinged press conferences.

How conservatives sustain CNN

Gov. Andrew Cuomo is on a publicity tour to cover up his disastrous handling of the COVID-19 crisis in New York and point the finger at red state governors for managing it differently. Puff pieces on his administration have appeared in People magazine and on the website for the governor’s favorite television station, CNN.  Chris Cillizza’s interview with Cuomo did not include any mention of the fact that the New York death rate was not just the highest in the country but one of the highest in the world. That a significant portion of New York’s population dying from the virus can be considered a win for the governor is a true liberal privilege.  Cillizza let Cuomo say absurd things like ‘We tested both theories. We have the evidence. It's numbers. It's irrefutable.

Chris Cuomo co-stars on Chinese app

Uh oh, Chris Cuomo has been engaging with a nefarious Chinese media company. Like countless quarantined dads across the globe, the CNN host has been trying out dances and other trends with his daughter, Bella, on a popular social media app called TikTok that allows users to make and share short videos with assorted visual and sound effects.Never mind that the app may be sending personal data to the Chinese Communist party, Chris is begging for a fair dose of mockery for his dancing. Accordingly, Cockburn pulled out his notebook and fountain pen to critique some of Chris’s attempts to win over Gen-Z. https://www.tiktok.com/@bellavcuomo/video/6830824175419100422 What does the world need to see right now?

New York has mismanaged COVID-19 from top to bottom

Andrew Cuomo is having the time of his life. His approval ratings are through the roof and he’s being talked about as a replacement for Joe Biden should Joe wander off somewhere without his Visiting Angel, never to be found again. Hipster merchandise featuring his face is exploding on Etsy and he’s getting a nightly hour with his own brother on CNN to chat about oh, this and that, and whatever is happening in his day at the given moment. It’s quite the arrangement!

Chris Cuomo’s coronavirus circus

CNN anchor Chris Cuomo has perfected COVID-19 performance art. While other attention seekers declare proudly that they’re ‘pretty sure’ they ‘had the ’rona back in January’, Cuomo has outplayed them all by actually securing a positive test before becoming an insufferable twerp about it. Cuomo announced on March 31 that he tested positive for coronavirus and that he would be self-quarantining in his basement away from his wife and children. On April 7, Cuomo told viewers of his primetime show that he was shivering so much that he chipped a tooth. Sympathy poured in from across the internet, but just five days later, Cuomo threw away any goodwill he ought to receive for his illness.

The brothers Cuomo

If there's one good thing about the coronavirus outbreak and subsequent collective social distancing in the US, it's that families are getting to spend more time together. That is, unless you're one of the brothers Cuomo. Gov. Andrew Cuomo of New York and his CNN anchor brother Chris reignited their intense sibling rivalry on live television Monday night, arguing over which of them is their mom's favorite. Andrew kicked off the nostalgic debate by comparing the coronavirus lockdown to a curfew implemented by his father, Mario, when he was a kid: 'I don't like the word "curfew." Dad tried to have a curfew for me, I never got past the resentment. But I do believe you'll see more heightening if the numbers don't slow.

The embarrassment of Fredo Cuomo

First of all, it is not true — at least, I can find no evidence — that the Don kissed Chris 'Fredo' Cuomo on both cheeks and handed him a one-way ticket to a fishing jaunt on Lake Tahoe. I wish people would stop spreading these vicious rumors. As I write, thousands of Chinese troops are massing on the border of Hong Kong, but this week the world is mesmerized by the spectacle of CNN anchor Fredo Cuomo screaming threats and obscenities at some hapless chap who called him 'Fredo.' What Donald Trump accurately described as Fredo Cuomo’s 'lunatic ranting, raving, & cursing,' did not, as far as I know, include the painful objection that 'I can handle things. I’m smart. Not like everybody says — like dumb. I’m smart and I want respect!
