Why the Super Bowl was worth watching

Minus a few big plays, the Super Bowl match-up between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs itself was a bit of a snoozer. But everyone knows the main event is not really the main event at the Super Bowl. Prior to kickoff, there’s the panning of the cameras to show the famous folk in attendance. Taylor Swift was mercilessly booed, and she didn’t seem to know how to react to the derision. In her defense — who would? Say what you will about Swift, but having your face appearing on a jumbotron elicit jeers loud enough to be heard from inside your swanky private box must be soul-shattering, no matter how many billions you have in the bank. President Donald Trump’s appearance had the opposite effect: the crowd goes wild!

In praise of Yuengling

When I was a college student in Texas, I told someone at a bar that I was from Pennsylvania. The guy’s eyes lit up. “Pennsylvania?!” the man exclaimed. “That means you get to drink Yuengling whenever you want!” Yes, I mused, with a shrug and a swig of my Shiner Bock. So what? The barfly informed me he was such a big fan of America’s Oldest Brewery — established 1829 — that he and his family would haul cases of the traditional lager, Smokey and the Bandit style, back to the Lone Star State any time they traveled east of the Mississippi. Fast-forward (just!) a few years, and Yuengling is now available in twenty-six states. Texas, my old friend would be tickled to know, was the first western state to get a taste of Yuengling back in 2021.

Bud Light remains for sale in virtually every Trump Organization business

As the Bud Light War enters what feels like its fifth year, Cockburn has further evidence that America’s "wokest" brew has an unlikely ally, giving it beachheads at some of the world's swankiest properties. The Trump Organization, which boasts properties in several continents, offers Bud Light and/or Bud Heavy at its properties in locations ranging from Chicago to Los Angeles to Scotland. A Cockburn review on Trump Organization menus show that the beer goes from £6.50 in Scotland, to $7 at his iconic Trump Tower in New York City, to $9 in Chicago, to $10 in Vegas. Trump’s Bud Light offerings go beyond just his hotels. Want some suds while you’re golfing? Trump National Golf Club in Los Angeles, for example, has you covered at only $7 a beer, or a six-pack for $35.

What’s going on with Dylan Mulvaney and Bud Light?

Transgender TikTok star Dylan Mulvaney infuriated beer drinkers around America on Saturday after posting about an alleged partnership with Bud Light. Mulvaney, who has amassed over 10 million followers on TikTok and 1.7 million on Instagram by documenting his transition from male to female, dropped a video on Instagram that showed the influencer sipping from the famous blue can while wearing a black cocktail dress and matching elbow-length opera gloves, à la Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany's. Toward the end of the video, Mulvaney reveals that Bud Light sent him a custom can with his likeness printed on the side and a congratulations for spending an entire year as a girl.
