Tim Walz faces a Yale Law reckoning

The Harris-Walz team has a plan to coax Trump into another debate. According to NBC News, the Democratic National Committee will accuse Trump of being a chicken in the hopes of getting under his skin: “The chicken billboards, which will first appear at Trump’s rally Monday in Indiana, Pennsylvania, include a digitally altered image of Trump in a chicken suit alongside the words ‘There’s no debate: Donald Trump’s a chicken.’” The tactics here aren’t subtle, but considering Trump’s penchant for taking the bait, it just might work. But if Operation Chicken lays an egg, then the last big televised event of this campaign season is next week’s vice presidential debate, when Ohio senator J.D.

Kamala’s ABC connection

Former president Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris are at odds over where and when the pair will debate, with Trump rejecting a debate he had previously scheduled with President Joe Biden on September 10, hosted by ABC News. Instead, Trump says he will only debate Harris on September 4 in a debate hosted by Fox News: “I’ll see her on September 4th or, I won’t see her at all,” he wrote on Truth Social. Harris has accused Trump of “playing games” and is keen to stick with the ABC debate. Trump has given two reasons as to why the ABC debate is no longer on the table for him. First, he agreed to that debate with Biden, not Harris. Second, he is in active litigation against ABC News and anchor George Stephanopoulos (or, as Trump calls him, “Slopadopoulos”).

Who will be the next great Climate Teen?

Now that truant Greta Thunberg is all grown up and aging out of her usefulness, progressive groups and our media are on the hunt, American Idol-style, for the next great Climate Teen. Just as the left puts teenagers on the frontline for gun control, and the Biden administration uses rosy-cheeked heartthrobs (much like Hamas does with human shields) to yell at people on TikTok, the media is desperately thirsty for a new batch of young climate activists with the charisma of boy band stars and the backing of thousands of lawyers and parents with political ambitions — they just won’t tell you that last part. Take the case of Badge and Lander Busse from Montana.

Media begins shoring up Biden’s network flank

Members of presidential administrations taking roles with news networks isn’t a particularly new phenomenon. Former Bush administration press secretary Dana Perino has fostered a successful career on Fox News. Former Clinton advisor and White House communications direction George Stephanopoulos took on a prominent role as the face of ABC News. When it comes to the Biden presidency, however, several lines have been blurred between official presidential messaging coming from the briefing room and networks who are hiring former Biden officials for prominent roles as he gears up for a re-election campaign. Networks are staffing up their ranks of former Biden communications officials at a furious pace.

Are the Walter Cronkite journalism awards for real?

It's no secret that mainstream journalism awards have gone to the dogs. The Washington Post and the New York Times both received Pulitzer Prizes for their "reporting" on Russiagate, for example, though their stories desperately hinted at a conspiracy between the Trump campaign and Russia that didn't actually exist. The NYT's Nikole Hannah-Jones received a Pulitzer for the widely debunked 1619 Project. The Walter Cronkite Award has previously been given to NBC News's Chuck Todd for excluding so-called "climate deniers" from his broadcasts, a CNN journalist who described the 2020 riots in Kenosha as "fiery but mostly peaceful" was nominated for an Emmy, and the New York Press bestowed CNN's Jim Acosta with a "Truth to Power" award.
