My mind works well
but how is it we know
so much, and so little
at the same time?
In old age I comfort myself
with good food, favourite
films on television
and prayer. One might pray
not to be at the mercy
of the mind’s wandering
in the small hours.
What’s it all about
Alfie? Stephen Hawking
once said that we will
understand the Universe
completely, if we know
the mind of God. Fancy that.
Why do clever-dick
atheists use the word God?
Perhaps the aridity
of John Lennon’s
‘nothing in the sky above’
is a bit of a downer.
Always look upwards.
Try not to have a fall.
My body keeps reminding me
of itself. I don’t trust it.
Days slip gently into night,
think of the speed
with which things may fall apart.
Early morning television
gives me people
laughing at nothing.
