Watch: Polanski’s Newsnight car crash

Oh dear. Zack Polanski is back in the spotlight again. The Green Party leader is currently under fire after resharing a post which an image of a man wearing a t-shirt with a guillotine and the slogan ‘we’re only making plans for Nigel.’ So the right on left winger yesterday submitted himself for an evening grilling on Newsnight, as penance for his past sins. Under the bright lights of the BBC studio, he sweated and stammered his way through an embarrassing exchange with Victoria Derbyshire. Talk about ‘rattled’ eh?

When pushed to apologise to the Reform leader, the boob whisperer admitted that, er, while it was a mistake, he would not be saying sorry to Farage. Truly an act of contrition. Derbyshire pressed him on whether there were lessons from this affair, given his previous gaffe two months, over the Golders’ Green shooting. Polanski, though, failed to see the similarity. He argued that in the previous incident was a tweet shared in ‘haste’, whereas in this case he was entirely unaware of the tweet’s content. An admission that doesn’t exactly inspire confidence….

Asserting his anti-establishment credentials, Polanski insisted that he uses social media in a way that is ‘different’ to other party leaders. ‘Worse’, would be the term Steerpike prefers. Given all the reports of rising Green discontent, if he carries on this badly, Mr S expects it will be Polanski who is the leader for the chop…
