Matthew Morgan on William Hogarth’s Marriage A-la-Mode

Tuesday, 9 June 2026 | 4 p.m.

Join us for an engaging talk with art historian Dr Matthew Morgan, exploring William Hogarth’s celebrated series ‘Marriage A-la-Mode’ – a witty and richly detailed critique of 18th-century society, ambition and relationships. Through Hogarth’s vivid storytelling and sharp observation, Matthew will guide guests through the paintings’ hidden meanings, social commentary and enduring relevance.

Dr Matthew Morgan studied History at Cambridge, The Courtauld Institute and Birkbeck, University of London before becoming a director in the valuations department at Christies. He ran Turner’s House as Museum Director, taught at Birbeck, was head of the London learning team at the Royal Collection. He has also lectured at the National Gallery, Royal Collection, Wallace Collection and the Victoria and Albert Museum.

Matthew Morgan on The Life and Times of JMW Turner

Join us for a second thought-provoking talk this month with art historian Dr Matthew Morgan as he explores the life, work and legacy of JMW Turner, one of Britain’s most celebrated painters. From his remarkable landscapes and atmospheric seascapes to the cultural and historical influences that shaped his work, this talk offers an engaging insight into Turner’s extraordinary artistic journey and enduring impact on British art.

A leading expert on JMW Turner and 18th Century Art, Matthew was also Museum Director of Turner’s House in Twickenham (2022-2024), where he was responsible for exhibitions, interpretation, and public programming making him uniquely equipped to retrace Turner’s legacy.

A Physiotherapists Guide for Every Age with KYN’s physiotherapist Ronan Briody. Briody will give advice from protecting joints, preventing injury and maintaining everyday movement to guidance on Falls Prevention, finishing with a Q&A session and the opportunity for 1:1 advice.    

Holding a Master of Physiotherapy and a Bachelor of Exercise and Movement Science, Ronan is experienced in a wide range of conditions including musculoskeletal, neurological, respiratory, cardiac and orthopaedics. He collaborates closely with surgeons to refine treatment protocols, and provide exceptional person-centred care to deliver superior recovery outcomes.
